Cooking: Shrimp Carbonara
So once in a while, I try cooking. I’m not good, I just follow the recipe.
My friend, Tisha, and I wanted to cook, but neither of us had any way of getting to our own houses without too much hassle. So instead, at a slightly-early-morning-haze, we decided to cook in our separate houses and post pictures of what we made online. (No, this is not lame, this is awesome!)
I tried making shrimp carbonara (with mozzarella as garnish). It’s my first time making pasta (can I just say I keep typing “paste” when I say pasta) and I think it turned out well. I bought ingredients to make chicken mozzarella by Chef Ramsay (see YouTube), but this took too long. Next time!

Can I just say, THIRTY-MINUTE COOKBOOKS DO NOT EXIST. Well, they do, but I don’t believe it only takes 30 minutes to took something from scratch. :| There mere preparation of ingredients takes up half of your energy, and before you know it, you’re spending the rest of your effort throwing everything into a bowl or pan. Why does TV make everything look so much easier?
You’d think that I just needed to cook the sauce, shrimp and linguine, right? Huhu, wrong. Had to marinate the shrimp, then cook it, cook the linguine, and make the sauce, and make the separate garnish. D: The recipe said it took 30-45 minutes, but it took 2 hours with help. Slight stab to the pride—but who cares? I kinda like how it turned out.

My first taste-testers: Dad and Josh, who should be looking more enthusiastic. Haha.

Wahahaha, they don’t know that they ate 2tbs of bacon dripping.

My lola was a big help to me today. Spent the day with her. She’s awesome.

Hello!
So through this, I learned: (1) how to roast red peppers [I had to YouTube], (2) broil using my oven [I didn’t notice that option, seriously], (3) the meaning of julienne, and (4) what Panko crumbs are […I just have plain crumbs in my grocery].
So, uhm, yeah. Haha. :D
